GENERAL QUESTIONS

Is everything handmade?

Yes. With few exceptions, everything is made by myself on the
potters wheel. Square plates, ornaments, handles and many teapot
elements are hand formed.

Is the dinnerware dishwasher and microwave safe?
Yes. No extraordinary care is necessary.

Is the dinnerware oven safe?
Warm oven, yes. However, I can not recommend my ware for baking
or other high temperature oven uses. My ware should not be placed
above a direct flame.

Is there any lead in the glaze?
No. There is no lead, barium, or other toxic materials in either my
glazes or my clay body.

What kind of clay / firing method do you use?

I use a Cone 6 Porcelain. It is a modified porcelaneous clay that is very
similar to a traditional porcelain (vitreous, durable, resistant to chipping)
yet it matures at a lower temperature, meaning significant energy savings.
I fire in oxidation with electric kilns to 2200 degrees Fahrenheit.

ORDERING DINNERWARE

What is a typical 5-piece placesetting?
Usually, a placesetting is a dinner plate, salad plate, soup bowl, cup and
saucer. But I'm not a fan of the 5-piece setting, as I find that is very lmiting
and does not suit the reality of most people's lifestyle. I highly encourage my
customers to take advantage of the many shapes and sizes of bowls and
plates that I offer.

Can I combine pieces from different lines?

Yes, many of the lines go very well together.

Can I mix colors?
Yes. Most of the colors complement each other well.
I will have some suggestions – for example, using the Clearwater
(ivory-ish) colored glaze to bring out the vibrancy of the other colors.

How true are the colors on the website?
That depends on your monitor. I can send color chips for a small fee.

Can you do custom colors?

Yes, it's possibe. But glaze development is a long and arduous process.
A significant custom glaze lab fee will be charged.

I'm overwhelmed by the number of choices. How do I start?
Give me a call. In most cases I can quickly help you narrow down your
choices by asking a few questions about how/what you eat and how you
entertain. You can also look at sample Gift Registries to see how others
have put together a set.

How can I see samples?
I can send samples pieces to you so that you can try them out at home,
compare them with other pieces you already have and see how the colors
look in your own environment.

How long will I have to wait for an order to be completed?
Usually 3-6 months, depending on my schedule.
I will give an approximate delivery date at the time an order is placed.

How do I set up a gift registry?
See "Register for a Special Event" on the Registry page.
